How to Get to Cayo Levantado

Numerous tourism agencies in the Samaná area, Las Terrenas, and even Punta Cana offer packages that include land transport to the port of Samaná and, subsequently, the journey by boat or catamaran to the cay. These tours usually also include food on the island and, sometimes, additional activities like snorkeling stops or visits to other nearby points of interest. It is an 'all-inclusive' option that allows us to relax and enjoy without worrying about logistics. Prices vary depending on the duration and services included, but they offer excellent value for a hassle-free experience.

• ### Public Boats or 'Guaguas Marítimas':

For those who prefer a more local and economical experience, or who simply desire flexibility in their schedules, there are public boats that depart regularly from the Samaná dock. These boats, often known as 'guaguas marítimas', are smaller and less luxurious than tourist catamarans, but they serve their purpose perfectly. The journey is short, generally between 15 and 25 minutes, offering panoramic views of the bay and the coast. It is important to negotiate the price before boarding and agree on a return time. This option gives us the freedom to explore the cay at our own pace, without the constraints of a pre-set tour. We simply arrive at the dock and look for the captains offering the service.

If we seek privacy or are traveling in a group, we can rent a private boat or a water taxi.
