How to Get to Praia del Pego

Getting to Praia del Pego is part of the adventure and, fortunately, it is quite accessible. If we are coming from Setúbal, traveling by car is the most comfortable and recommended option. We must take the N379-1 road, which crosses the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park, offering spectacular panoramic views that in themselves justify the trip. The road is winding but in good condition, and immerses us in a landscape of green hills and cliffs that plunge into the sea.

By Car

To get to Praia del Pego beach by car, the directions are simple. From Setúbal, we follow the signs towards Portinho da Arrábida or Figueirinha, and then look for the signposted turnoffs towards Praia del Pego. There is a parking lot, often paid during high season, located right before the wooden walkway that leads directly to the sand. It's important to arrive early in the summer months, as the parking lot can fill up quickly, given the beach's popularity. The route is scenic but requires attention on the curves. From Lisbon, the trip takes approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic, taking the A2 and then the A12 towards Setúbal.

Public Transport

Public transport to get directly to Praia del Pego is more limited. During the summer, some urban or intercity bus lines from Setúbal may have stops near the Arrábida beaches, but they usually don't drop off directly at the entrance to Praia del Pego. The most common approach would be to get to Setúbal by train or bus and, from there, take a taxi or a ride-hailing service, or even consider renting a car for greater freedom of movement and to explore other Portugal beaches in the region. We always recommend a car for a complete experience in the Serra da Arrábida.
