Its beauty undoubtedly makes it one of the most photogenic beaches in Faro, an idyllic setting for capturing unforgettable memories or simply letting yourself be carried away by the sea breeze.

How to Get to Praia del Paraíso

Getting to Praia del Paraíso is part of the adventure and charm. Although it's not in the heart of the city of Faro, its location in Carvoeiro, in the district of Faro, makes it accessible and worth the trip. We highly recommend renting a car to explore the Algarve at your own pace, as it will give you the freedom to discover not only this cove but also many other hidden treasures.

If you're coming from Faro Airport, the drive will take approximately 45-50 minutes, following the A22 west and then taking the exits towards Lagoa/Carvoeiro. Once in Carvoeiro, the beach is well signposted. Access to the cove is via a long staircase carved into the cliff, which adds a picturesque touch but also means it's not the most comfortable option for people with reduced mobility or baby strollers. There is a small parking lot at the top of the cliff, but spaces are limited, especially in high season. Arriving early is key to securing a good spot.

For those who prefer public transport, you can take a bus from Faro to Lagoa, and from there another bus or a taxi to Carvoeiro. From the center of Carvoeiro, the beach is a short walk away, but remember the descent via the stairs. Undoubtedly, the comfort of a car will allow you to fully enjoy the experience and the wonderful views along the way.

The Sand and Water

As we descended the stairs and set foot on Praia del Paraíso, the first thing we noticed was the softness of its sand. It's a pale golden color, incredibly fine and pleasant to the touch, perfect for walking barefoot or for children to play building sandcastles. The cove, although not very extensive, offers enough space to lay out a towel and enjoy the sun, as long as it's not overly crowded.

The waters are another major attraction of this Faro beach. They are crystal clear, with a turquoise hue that invites swimming and immersion. Thanks to the protection of the surrounding cliffs, the sea here is usually very calm, with little to no waves, making it a safe and pleasant place to swim. The water temperature, especially in the summer months, is very pleasant, ideal for cooling off and enjoying a dip. The clarity of the water also allows you to observe the seabed and some marine life, making the experience even more enriching.

Services and Facilities

Despite its intimate size, Praia del Paraíso offers a range of essential services to ensure a comfortable stay for its visitors. We appreciate that, even being a more secluded cove, it doesn't lack the basics for enjoying a day at the beach.

In high season, you'll find Lifeguard services monitoring the safety of swimmers, which always provides great peace of mind, especially if you're traveling with children. It's also possible to rent Sun umbrellas and sun loungers to protect yourself from the sun and relax in total comfort. Near the beach, or at the top of the cliff, there is usually a small Chiringuito where you can buy refreshing drinks, ice cream, or a light snack to recharge. It's important to remember that as it's a small cove, the direct food offering on the sand is limited, but Carvoeiro offers many options.

Additionally, there are Showers to rinse off the salt and sand before returning, and Bathrooms/WC available, which is always a plus. As mentioned, Parking is limited at the top of the cliff, so it's advisable to arrive early. The beach holds a Blue Flag, a quality distinction that certifies the cleanliness of the water and sand, as well as the safety and services offered, which is a guarantee of a top-tier beach experience. However, due to its access via stairs, it does not have full accessibility for people with reduced mobility.

Best Time to Visit

Choosing the best time to visit Praia del Paraíso will depend on your personal preferences, but we have our recommendations to make the most of this Algarve gem.

For us, spring (April-June) and early autumn (September-October) are the ideal times.
