How to Get to Praia de Mirouço

Getting to Praia de Mirouço is part of the adventure and, at the same time, what helps preserve its virgin character. Being on a desert island, the main access is exclusively by sea. We always recommend taking a boat from Faro, the capital of the Algarve. There are several options available to reach Ilha Deserta:

Ferry or Regular Line Boat

From Cais da Porta Nova, in the center of Faro, regular line boats depart that connect to Ilha Deserta. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes and is an experience in itself, as it crosses the channels of Ria Formosa, offering spectacular views of the natural park and its wildlife. These boats usually have fixed schedules and are an economical and relaxed option for getting there.

Water Taxi or Aquataxi

For those seeking greater flexibility and speed, water taxis are an excellent alternative. They can be hired at the same Cais da Porta Nova or at Faro's marina. The trip is much shorter, around 15-20 minutes, and allows you to return at a time that suits you best. Although a bit more expensive, the comfort and the possibility of exploring the island at your own pace are well worth it, especially if you have limited time or desire a more private experience.

Organized Tours

Numerous local companies offer boat tours to Ilha Deserta, which often include stops at other islands of Ria Formosa like Culatra or Farol. These tours can be an excellent way to get to know the area in depth, with guides sharing interesting information about the ecosystem and local history.
