How to Get to Praia de Matosinhos

Getting to Praia de Matosinhos is surprisingly easy, thanks to its excellent connection with the city of Porto. This accessibility is one of the great advantages that make it one of the most convenient beaches in Portugal to visit.

By Metro

The most comfortable and efficient way to get there is, without a doubt, by using the Porto metro. Line A (blue) has several stops along the Matosinhos coast, with the stations closest to the beach being Matosinhos Sul and Câmara de Matosinhos. From either of them, a short walk of just a few minutes will leave you directly on the sand. The metro is clean, modern, and offers excellent coverage, allowing us to get from the center of Porto in approximately 20-30 minutes.

By Bus

Various bus lines of the STCP network connect downtown Porto with Matosinhos. Some of the lines operating in the coastal area are line 500, which offers a picturesque route along the Douro River and the coast, and line 507. It's a slower option than the metro, but it allows us to enjoy the views during the journey, especially if we sit by the window.

By Car

If we prefer the flexibility of our own vehicle, Praia de Matosinhos is easily accessible by road. From Porto, we can take the A28 or follow the signs to Matosinhos and the coast. There are several parking areas, both paid and free, around the beach, although during the summer months or sunny weekends, finding a spot can be a challenge. Our advice is to arrive early to secure a good place.

By Bicycle or on Foot

For the more active, the beach is connected to downtown Porto and Foz do Douro via a pleasant promenade and bike lanes. It's a flat and scenic route, perfect for a bike ride or a relaxing walk, enjoying the views of the Atlantic. We love this option to feel the sea breeze before reaching the sand.
