How to Get to Praia de la Terra Estreita

To get to Praia da Terra Estreita, the adventure begins before you set foot on the sand. Since it is located on a barrier island, the only way to access it is by ferry or water taxi. We recommend two main departure points, both very picturesque:

From Santa Luzia

The most popular option and, in our opinion, the most charming, is to take the ferry from the small fishing village of Santa Luzia, known as the 'Capital do Polvo' (Octopus Capital). From the Santa Luzia pier, the boats cross the estuary on a short and pleasant journey to the landing stage at Praia da Terra Estreita. The trip lasts just 10-15 minutes and offers spectacular views of the Ria Formosa, with its salt pans, birds, and small boats. In Santa Luzia, you will find parking, although it can be busy in high season.

From Tavira (Cais das Quatro Águas)

Another alternative is to take the ferry from Cais das Quatro Águas, on the outskirts of Tavira. This pier is well signposted and has ample parking areas. The journey from here is a bit longer, around 20-25 minutes, and also takes us to Ilha de Tavira, although to a different part of the island. From there, via a walk along the shore or on wooden walkways, you can reach the Terra Estreita section. Both options are comfortable and are part of the experience of visiting this jewel of the Algarve.

Directions from Faro City

If you are starting from Faro city, you should take the N125 road or the A22 (Via do Infante) heading east, towards Tavira. The drive to Santa Luzia or Tavira is approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Once in Santa Luzia or Tavira, follow the signs to the respective ferry piers. It is a journey worth taking for the final reward.
