From Faro or Tavira

If we are coming from Faro, the provincial capital, or from the historic city of Tavira, the route is simple and well signposted. We can arrive by car via the N125 road or the A22 motorway (Via do Infante), taking the exit towards Tavira and then following the signs to Cabanas. The journey from Faro usually takes about 40-50 minutes, while from Tavira it's barely 10-15 minutes.

Boat access

Once in Cabanas de Tavira, access to the beach is exclusively by boat. Along the village's promenade, you will find several boarding points. They are small boats that make the trip regularly and very frequently, especially during the summer months. The journey is short, just about 5 minutes, and offers wonderful views of the estuary and the coast. The price is symbolic and helps maintain the beach's exclusivity and charm. It's important to remember that the last return boat is usually at sunset, so it's always good to check the schedules.

Parking

In Cabanas de Tavira, we have several parking areas, both free and paid, especially near the promenade where the piers are located. Although in high season it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot, the supply is sufficient for the influx of visitors. We recommend arriving early on the busiest days to secure a good spot.

The sand and the water

Praia de Cabanas de Tavira welcomes us with some of the finest and most golden sand we have found in the Algarve. It's a delight to walk barefoot on it, feel its softness under our feet and the warmth of the sun that accumulates during the day. The beach is very extensive, which allows us to always find a quiet place, even on the busiest days. It's perfect for building sandcastles, for children to play without worries, or simply to lie down and enjoy the sun.

As for the water, it is one of the great attractions of this beach. The waters of Praia de Cabanas de Tavira are remarkably calm, clear, and with a very pleasant temperature for most of the year, especially from spring to autumn. Being protected by the natural barrier of the estuary, there is hardly any wave action, making it an ideal place for safe swimming, even for the little ones. The transparency of the water allows us to see the sandy bottom and, sometimes, small fish swimming near the shore, adding a touch of marine life to our experience. It's a true pleasure to immerse ourselves in these waters and feel the worries dissolve.

• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: There are several chiringuitos and small restaurants where we can enjoy a refreshing drink, an ice cream, or a light meal. The offer usually includes fresh grilled fish, salads, and snacks. They are places with a relaxed atmosphere and spectacular views of the sea or the estuary.
• Lifeguards: During the bathing season, the beach has lifeguard posts that watch over the safety of bathers. This gives us great peace of mind, especially if we are with children.
• Sun umbrellas and sun loungers: It is possible to rent sun umbrellas and sun loungers to protect ourselves from the sun and enjoy greater comfort. Although we can always bring our own, this option is very convenient for those who prefer to travel light.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: There are sanitary facilities and showers to rinse off the salt and sand before returning. They are basic but much appreciated services.
