Getting to Praia de Areia Branca is relatively straightforward, especially if we choose the car, which is the most comfortable option for exploring the area with freedom. From Lisbon, the journey takes approximately one hour to an hour and a quarter, depending on traffic.

By Car

We always recommend the car for greater flexibility. The most common route from Lisbon is to take the A8 motorway heading north and then turn off onto the A15, or directly follow the signs to Lourinhã and Praia de Areia Branca. The roads are in good condition and the scenery along the way, through fields and small towns, already prepares us for the tranquility of the coast. There are several parking areas near the beach, some free and others paid, especially in high season. Arriving early is key if we want to secure a good spot.

By Public Transport

Although less direct, it is also possible to get there by public transport. From Lisbon, we can take a bus from the Rede Expressos or Rodoviária do Oeste companies to Lourinhã. Once in Lourinhã, there are local buses or taxis that can take us to Praia de Areia Branca, which is a few kilometers away. This option can be more economical, but requires more planning and patience, as the frequencies of local buses can be limited, especially outside the high season. For a day trip, we prefer the comfort of the car.
