How to Get to Praia da Costa da Caparica

Accessibility is one of the great advantages of Praia da Costa da Caparica, especially due to its proximity to Lisbon. We have found that getting there is relatively straightforward and there are several options to suit our preferences and budget.

By Car

For many, the most comfortable option is by car. From Lisbon, the journey is short, crossing the iconic 25 de Abril Bridge. Once on the other side in Almada, the signs for 'Costa da Caparica' are clear. The trip usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on traffic. We have found numerous parking areas along the coast, both paid and free (especially in areas further from the center). It's important to consider that during the summer months and on weekends, access and parking can be more challenging, so we recommend arriving early.

By Bus

If we prefer not to drive, public transport is an excellent alternative. From Lisbon, we can take direct buses from the TST company (Transportes Sul do Tejo) from various points, such as Praça de Espanha or Areeiro. These buses drop us off directly in the center of Costa da Caparica. The journey takes approximately 30-45 minutes and is a relaxed way to enjoy the scenery without worrying about parking.

Train and Bus

Another option is to combine train and bus. From Lisbon, we can take a Fertagus train from Sete Rios or Entrecampos station and get off at Pragal or Corroios station (on the south bank of the Tagus). From there, we connect with local TST buses that will take us to Costa da Caparica. This combination can be useful if we are staying near a train station and are looking for an alternative to the bridge traffic.
