For us, visiting Troia Mar means immersing ourselves in a postcard landscape, where the turquoise blue of the Atlantic merges with the gold of incredibly fine sand, creating the perfect setting to disconnect and recharge.

The Troia peninsula, a coastal strip approximately 18 kilometers long, is a unique, protected ecosystem of immense scenic value. How to Get to Praia de Troia Mar

Getting to Praia de Troia Mar is part of the adventure and, fortunately, there are several options that allow us to access this paradise. The most popular and picturesque way is, without a doubt, to take the ferry from Setúbal. We always recommend this option, as the journey by catamaran or 'ro-ro' ferry (for cars) across the Sado estuary is an experience in itself. During the trip, which lasts about 20-30 minutes, it's very common to spot the bottlenose dolphins that inhabit these waters, a natural spectacle that adds a magical touch to the arrival.

Ferry from Setúbal

• Catamaran (passengers): Departs from the Setúbal pier, in the city center, and drops us off directly at the Troia marina, just steps from the beach. It's fast and efficient.
• 'Ro-Ro' Ferry (vehicles and passengers): Departs from Cais da Gávea, also in Setúbal, and is ideal if we plan to bring our car to explore the peninsula. Schedules are frequent, especially in high season.

By Car (by land)

If we prefer the land route, we can access Troia by car from the south, via Alcácer do Sal. This option involves a longer journey, skirting the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve, allowing us to enjoy landscapes of marshes and rice fields. It's an interesting alternative if we're coming from other regions of Portugal and want to avoid the ferry, although the experience of the sea crossing is, for us, unparalleled.

Public Transport

Once on the Troia peninsula, if we arrive without a car, we can walk or use the local transport services that connect the different areas of the Troia resort with the beach. Praia de Troia Mar is very well integrated into the resort, so access is easy and comfortable from most accommodations.

The Sand and Water

The most distinctive feature of Praia de Troia Mar is, without a doubt, its sand. It has a fine and soft texture, of a pale golden color that invites you to walk barefoot for kilometers. We greatly enjoy the feeling of this sand under our feet, which stretches across a vast expanse, offering plenty of space for all visitors, even on the busiest days. It's the perfect type of sand for building castles, for sunbathing, or simply for letting time stand still while we watch the horizon.

The waters of Praia de Troia Mar are another of its great attractions. They are remarkably crystal-clear and, in general, very calm, protected by the orientation of the peninsula. This calm makes them exceptionally safe, especially for the little ones in the family, who can splash and play without worry. The water temperature, although it's Atlantic, is usually pleasant during the summer months, inviting us for a refreshing swim. The transparency of the water allows us to see the sandy bottom, which enhances the feeling of purity and cleanliness that we value so much in a beach.
