How to Get to Praia da Luz

Getting to Praia da Luz is relatively straightforward, which contributes to its popularity among tourists and locals. It's located about 6 kilometers west of the city of Lagos, in the Algarve. For those traveling by air, the nearest airport is Faro (FAO), situated approximately 90 kilometers away. From the airport, we have several options to reach our destination.

By Car

Renting a car is undoubtedly the most comfortable and flexible option for exploring the Algarve and reaching Praia da Luz. The A22 motorway (Via do Infante) runs through the entire region, and from it, we take the exit towards Lagos. Once in Lagos, the signs for Praia da Luz are well-marked. The journey from Faro usually takes about an hour, depending on traffic. The beach has nearby parking areas, both paid and free, although in high season it can be a challenge to find a spot, so we recommend arriving early.

By Public Transport

If we prefer public transport, we can take a train or bus from Faro to Lagos. Lagos train station is well-connected, and from there, local buses take us directly to Praia da Luz. The 'A ONDA' bus line in Lagos offers regular routes connecting the city with Luz, making the journey comfortable and economical. Schedules vary by season, so it's advisable to check them in advance.

By Taxi or Private Transfer

Another alternative is to hire a taxi or private transfer service from Faro Airport. This option is more expensive but offers the advantage of comfort and speed, taking us directly to the door of our accommodation in Praia da Luz without worries.

The Sand and Water

Praia da Luz captivates us instantly with its fine, golden sand, a delight for our feet. It's soft sand, perfect for spreading out our towel and enjoying long days in the sun, or for the little ones to build sandcastles without difficulty.
