How to Get to Praia da Rainha

Getting to Praia da Rainha is relatively straightforward, and the travel experience is, in itself, part of the adventure, especially if we are coming from Lisbon. The beach is located in the center of Cascais, making it very accessible.

From Lisbon by Train

For us, the most comfortable and picturesque option is the train. From the Cais do Sodré station in Lisbon, we can take a direct train to Cascais. The journey takes about 40 minutes and gifts us with spectacular views of the Atlantic coast, passing by Estoril and other beautiful Lisbon beaches. Once we arrive at the Cascais train station, Praia da Rainha is about a 5-10 minute walk away, following the signs or simply heading towards the coast. It's a pleasant stroll through the charming streets of the town.

By Car

If we prefer to drive, we can reach Cascais via the A5 highway from Lisbon. The trip takes between 25 and 40 minutes, depending on traffic. However, finding parking in the center of Cascais, especially during the high season, can be a challenge. There are paid underground parking lots near the town center and the marina, from where the beach is easily accessible on foot. We recommend arriving early if we choose this option.

On Foot or by Bicycle

If we are already in Cascais or the nearby towns of Estoril or Monte Estoril, Praia da Rainha is perfectly accessible on foot or by bicycle. The promenade connecting these towns is ideal for a leisurely ride and allows us to enjoy the views before reaching our beach destination.

Being a cove protected by cliffs, its waters are usually very calm, with little to no waves, making it ideal for swimming and relaxing. It is a true pleasure to immerse oneself in these waters, which, as is usual on the Portuguese coast, can be a bit cool, especially outside the summer months. However, this coolness is incredibly revitalizing and perfect for combating the summer heat. The underwater visibility is good, which, although it is not a spectacular diving area, allows us to observe small fish and marine life near the rocks.
