How to get to Praia de Manta Rota

Getting to Praia de Manta Rota is relatively easy, which contributes to its popularity. For those traveling by car, the A22 highway (Via do Infante) is the main artery connecting the entire Algarve. We recommend taking the exit towards Altura/Manta Rota and following the signs. The journey from Faro Airport is approximately 45-50 minutes, making it very accessible for those arriving by plane. There are extensive parking areas nearby, although in high season they can fill up quickly, so we advise arriving early.

For those who prefer public transport, the most common option is to fly to Faro Airport and from there take a taxi or bus to the Faro train or bus station. From Faro, there are regular train connections to Cacela station (the closest to Manta Rota, about 3-4 km away) or bus to Vila Real de Santo António, and from there, a taxi or local bus. While not as direct as by car, it is a viable alternative for those who want a more relaxed experience without parking worries.

The sand and water

If there is something that defines Praia de Manta Rota, it is certainly its fine sand of a golden hue that dazzles under the Algarve sun. It's soft sand, perfect for walking barefoot for kilometers, building sandcastles with the kids, or simply lying down and feeling its warmth. The waves are generally very gentle, almost non-existent on many days, which makes Praia de Manta Rota an exceptionally safe place for swimming. The shallow depth of the shore allows the little ones to play and splash in complete safety under the supervision of the lifeguards. We always highlight this feature, as it is a key factor for many families when choosing their vacation destination.
