How to get to Praia de Suave Mar

Getting to Praia de Suave Mar beach is relatively straightforward, given its excellent location and good transport connections in the Braga region. We always recommend planning the trip in advance to ensure the best experience, especially during the high season.

By car

For most visitors, the car is the most comfortable and flexible option. Praia de Suave Mar is located in Esposende, which is well connected by the Portuguese road network. If you are coming from the south, such as Porto, or from the north, such as Viana do Castelo, the A28 motorway is the main access route. You should take the exit towards Esposende and follow the signs to the coast. Once in Esposende, the beach is clearly signposted. The advantage of going by car is the freedom to explore the surroundings and the nearby Braga beaches. Furthermore, Praia de Suave Mar has spacious and well-organized Parking areas, some of them free and others paid, especially near the main accesses. We always advise arriving early on days with high attendance to secure a good spot.

By public transport

Although the car offers more freedom, public transport is a viable alternative.

• From Braga: If you are in the city of Braga, you can take a bus from the Transdev company or similar that will take you directly to Esposende. The journey usually takes between 45 minutes and an hour, depending on the stops. Once in Esposende, the beach is a short walk from the bus station, or you can opt for a local taxi.
• From Porto: From Porto, you can take a train or bus to Braga, and then follow the route described above. Alternatively, some bus lines connect Porto directly with Esposende, although they are usually less frequent. The bus journey from Porto to Esposende can take around 1.5 to 2 hours.
• Local transport in Esposende: Within Esposende, the beach is accessible on foot from the city center. There are also taxi options and, in the high season, sometimes small tourist trains or local buses that connect the center with the main beaches, including Praia de Suave Mar.

For cycling enthusiasts, the region has an excellent network of cycle paths, such as the Ecovia Litoral Norte, which allows you to reach the beach while enjoying a pleasant ride by the sea.
