Upon arriving at Playa Yaguanabo, we are greeted by an atmosphere of tranquility that invites disconnection. Its waters, of a changing turquoise blue, gently sway over a carpet of fine golden sand, occasionally dotted with small shells that testify to the area's marine richness. How to Get to Playa Yaguanabo

Getting to Playa Yaguanabo is part of the adventure and, for us, a prelude to the beauty that awaits. Its location is key: it's in the province of Cienfuegos, approximately 35-40 kilometers east of the city of Cienfuegos and about 45-50 kilometers west of the historic Trinidad. This intermediate position makes it an excellent point to explore both cities while enjoying the beach. The road connecting Cienfuegos with Trinidad, the famous Carretera del Circuito Sur, passes right next to the beach, offering spectacular views of the sea and mountains.

From Cienfuegos

If we depart from the 'Pearl of the South', Cienfuegos, we have several options to reach Playa Yaguanabo:

• Private taxi: This is the most comfortable and fastest option. We can negotiate the price with local taxi drivers or state taxi services. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic and speed.
• Bus: There are intercity buses that run the Cienfuegos-Trinidad route and can drop us at the stop closest to the beach. However, schedules can be irregular and availability limited. It's a more economical option, but requires patience and flexibility.
• Rental car: If we've chosen to rent a vehicle, the journey is simple and very pleasant. The road is in acceptable condition and signs will guide us without problems. This gives us the freedom to explore the surroundings at our own pace.

From Trinidad

From vibrant Trinidad, the options are similar:

• Private taxi: Just like from Cienfuegos, it's the most direct way to get there. The trip is equally picturesque, skirting the coast and passing through small towns.
• Bus: We can take a bus bound for Cienfuegos and ask to be dropped off at Playa Yaguanabo.
• Rental car: The route from Trinidad is also very enjoyable and allows us to make stops at viewpoints or points of interest along the way. The distance and travel time are comparable to those from Cienfuegos.

Walking barefoot, we feel its softness under our feet, a pleasant caress that invites us to stroll along the shore. In some stretches, we can find small seashells and fragments of coral polished by the sea, adding texture and a touch of authenticity. It's clean, well-maintained sand that stretches along the coast, offering ample space for sunbathing, playing, or simply relaxing with a good book.

The Water

The waters of Playa Yaguanabo are, without a doubt, one of its greatest attractions. They are notably calm and shallow near the shore, making them ideal for swimming for all ages. Their transparency allows us to see the sandy bottom and, often, small fish swimming near the coast. The color varies from an emerald greenish-blue near the shore to an intense turquoise further out, creating a stunning visual contrast with the golden sand. The water temperature is warm year-round, inviting us to immerse ourselves and enjoy a refreshing swim at any time.
