How to Get to Playa San Agustín

Getting to Playa San Agustín is part of the adventure and, although it requires a bit more effort than other Huatulco beaches, the reward is worth every kilometer. Located west of the main Huatulco Bays, this beach is part of the Huatulco National Park. The most common way to access it is by road, either by taxi, colectivo, or rental car from La Crucecita or Santa Cruz Huatulco. The journey takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the starting point and road conditions.

If you're starting from La Crucecita, the nerve center of Huatulco, you'll take federal highway 200 heading west. After a few kilometers, you'll find the well-signposted turnoff towards Playa San Agustín. We should mention that the last stretch of the road, about 10 to 15 minutes, is unpaved. This means there can be potholes and dust, especially in the dry season, or mud if it has rained recently. We always recommend a vehicle with good suspension or, even better, hiring a local taxi that is accustomed to the road conditions. The local taxi drivers know the route perfectly and will provide you with a safe and comfortable ride to the seashore.
