How to Get to Playa Paraíso

Getting to Playa Paraíso is part of the adventure and, fortunately, it's quite accessible from the main tourist points of the Yucatan Peninsula. The beach is located south of the famous Mayan ruins of Tulum, making it easy to combine both visits in the same day. Here we detail the best options to reach this Caribbean Eden:

From Cancún or Playa del Carmen

If your starting point is Cancún or Playa del Carmen, you have several alternatives. The most economical and popular way is to take an ADO bus from the main terminal in these cities to Tulum. The journey from Cancún takes approximately two and a half hours, while from Playa del Carmen it's about an hour. Once at the Tulum bus station, you can take a taxi directly to Playa Paraíso, which will take about 10-15 minutes and cost a reasonable amount. Another option is a colectivo (a shared van) heading towards the beach area, although you might have to walk a bit from where it drops you off.

From the Town of Tulum

If you are already staying in the town of Tulum, the options are even simpler. The distance to Playa Paraíso is approximately 5-7 kilometers. You can rent a bicycle, which is very common and fun in Tulum, and pedal along the coastal road. It's a pleasant ride and allows you to enjoy the scenery. Taxis are plentiful and a comfortable option, especially if you're traveling with luggage or in a group. There are also colectivos that travel through the beach area.

By Rental Car

For those who prefer the freedom to explore at their own pace, renting a car is an excellent idea. Federal Highway 307 is the main artery connecting Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum. Once in Tulum, follow the signs to the hotel zone or the ruins, and then to the beach. Playa Paraíso has parking lots, some paid, where you can leave your vehicle safely. It's the option we prefer for flexibility and to visit other nearby points of interest on the beaches of Quintana Roo.

The Sand and Water

When you step onto Playa Paraíso, the first thing that captivates is the quality of its sand. It's immaculately white, so fine and soft that it feels like talcum powder underfoot. Its composition of pulverized coral not only gives it that characteristic color but also prevents it from getting excessively hot, allowing you to walk barefoot comfortably even during the sunniest hours. It's the ideal type of sand for building castles, for long walks, or simply for lying down and feeling its texture.

Despite this, even with the presence of sargassum, the beauty of the waters and the landscape of Playa Paraíso remain undeniable and its charm persists.
