How to Get to Playa Miramar

Getting to Playa Miramar is quite straightforward, especially if you are in the Manzanillo or Colima region. We recommend several options for your convenience.

From Manzanillo

If you are already in Manzanillo, the beach is just a few minutes away by car. You can take a taxi, use ride-hailing services, or rent a car. The coastal highway is easy to follow and well-signposted. The journey usually takes about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on your starting point in the city.

From Colima City

If your starting point is the state capital, Colima City, the trip will be a bit longer but just as pleasant. You should take Federal Highway 200 towards Manzanillo. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours by car. There are regular buses connecting Colima with Manzanillo, and from the Manzanillo bus terminal, you can take a taxi or local bus to the beach.

From Manzanillo International Airport (ZLO)

The Playa de Oro International Airport of Manzanillo (ZLO) is the gateway for many visitors. From there, Playa Miramar is about 30-40 minutes away by car. At the airport, you will find taxi services and car rentals. We always advise booking transportation in advance, especially if you arrive during the high season.

The Sand and Water

One of the most distinctive and captivating aspects of Playa Miramar is, without a doubt, its sand. Unlike many Mexico beaches with white sand, here we find fine, dark, almost black sand, a result of the region's volcanic activity. This particular color is not only visually striking but also absorbs more heat from the sun, making walking barefoot at midday a peculiar experience, but nothing a good pair of sandals can't fix!

The waters of Playa Miramar are, in general, quite calm and warm, making it an ideal place for swimming and enjoying a relaxing dip. The gentleness of the waves, especially in the central area of the beach, makes it very safe for children and for those who are not experienced swimmers. At certain times of the year and under certain weather conditions, there can be a bit more swell, but for the most part, it's a paradise for a swim. The water clarity varies but is often good enough to appreciate marine life with basic snorkeling near the rocks at the ends.

• Lifeguards: The constant presence of lifeguards is a big plus, providing safety and peace of mind for swimmers, especially families with children.
• Umbrellas and Sun Loungers: Numerous establishments offer umbrella and comfortable sun lounger rentals so we can relax in the shade. Many chiringuitos offer them for free if we consume at their establishment.
• Equipment Rental: For the more active, there are spots to rent kayaks, paddleboards, and jet skis. Rides on 'banana' boats or speedboats are also common.
