The most common way to access Playa Lo de Marcos is through Puerto Vallarta, which has an international airport (Lic. Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, PVR) with direct flights from various cities in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. From there, the journey takes about an hour by car.

By Car

We rented a car at Puerto Vallarta airport, which gave us the flexibility to explore the surroundings at our own pace. Federal Highway 200 is the main artery connecting Puerto Vallarta with the Riviera Nayarit, and the road to Lo de Marcos is scenic and well-signposted. It is a comfortable and safe route, allowing us to enjoy the tropical landscapes of the region. Once you turn off the main highway, the town of Lo de Marcos is just a few minutes away, and you will find clear signage to the beach.

By Bus

For those who prefer a more economical and local option, the buses from the Pacífico (or 'Compostela') line are an excellent alternative. They depart regularly from the Puerto Vallarta bus station and make stops in the towns along the coast, including Lo de Marcos. The trip is a bit longer, around 1.5 to 2 hours, but it is an excellent way to observe local life and immerse yourself in the travel experience. We consider it a viable option if we are not in a hurry and want a more authentic adventure.

Taxi or Private Transportation

If comfort is your priority, you can opt for a taxi or private transportation service from Puerto Vallarta airport directly to your accommodation in Lo de Marcos. This is the fastest and most worry-free option, ideal if you are traveling with a lot of luggage or with small children. Although it is a bit more expensive, the peace of mind of arriving directly at our destination without stops is invaluable. We have used this option on occasion to start our vacations with maximum relaxation.

The Sand and Water

Playa Lo de Marcos welcomes us with a stretch of fine, golden sand that feels incredibly soft under our feet. Walking barefoot along its shore is a delight, and children, of course, love building sandcastles with it. The texture is perfect for spreading out a towel and enjoying the sun, or simply for a relaxing morning walk as the sun begins to warm the day. We did not find rocks along most of the beach, making it very comfortable and safe for everyone.

But what truly captivates us about Lo de Marcos is its waters. They are exceptionally calm, with a crystal-clear greenish-blue hue that invites you to dive right in. The bay where the beach is located is protected from large waves, creating an ideal environment for swimming, especially for the little ones or for those who prefer to splash around without worries. The water temperature is warm and pleasant for most of the year, allowing us to enjoy long swims without feeling cold. We have spent hours floating and relaxing in these waters, watching small fish swim near the shore. The water clarity is such that, on clear days, we can see our feet without difficulty. It is, without a doubt, one of the most attractive features of this Nayarit beach.
