Located in the famous Bays of Huatulco, in the beautiful state of Oaxaca, Mexico, this cove is much more than just a beach; it's a natural sanctuary where the tranquility of the Pacific meets vibrant marine life. For us, visiting Playa La Entrega is like diving into a living postcard, where the turquoise blue of the water blends with golden sand and lush tropical vegetation.

How to Get to Playa La Entrega

Getting to Playa La Entrega is relatively straightforward and is part of the adventure of exploring the Oaxaca beaches. It is located within Huatulco National Park, near Santa Cruz Bay, one of the nine bays that make up this spectacular tourist destination. We recommend several options to access this paradise:

From La Crucecita or Santa Cruz Huatulco

• Taxi: This is the most comfortable and fastest option. From La Crucecita, the journey usually takes about 15-20 minutes and the cost is reasonable. Taxis in Huatulco are safe and plentiful.
• Colectivo or 'camioneta': For a more economical and local option, you can take colectivos (shared vans) heading towards the bay area. Ask for 'La Entrega' and they will point you to the route. Often, the colectivos will drop you at the main entrance, and from there it's a short walk to the sand.
• Private or rental vehicle: If you've rented a car, the beach has a parking area (often with a symbolic cost), which facilitates access and flexibility to explore other nearby bays. Follow the signs towards Santa Cruz Bay and then towards Playa La Entrega.

Catamaran or Boat Tours

A very popular and enjoyable way to get to Playa La Entrega is through a catamaran or boat tour that visits several of the Bays of Huatulco. Many of these tours have La Entrega as one of their main stops for swimming and snorkeling. This option allows us to enjoy the coastal views and sea breeze before arriving at the beach.

The Sand and Water

When we step onto the sand of Playa La Entrega, the first thing we notice is its golden, almost ochre hue, and its fine, soft texture. It's sand that invites you to walk barefoot, build sandcastles with the little ones, or simply spread out a towel and enjoy the Oaxacan sun. The predominant type of ground in the swimming area is sand, making it very comfortable and safe for everyone.

But if there's something that truly captivates us about this Oaxaca beach, it's its water. It's simply spectacular! We encounter a sea of turquoise and emerald tones, with astonishing clarity that allows you to see the seabed even several meters deep. The water temperature is warm and pleasant year-round, making it perfect for swimming and spending hours submerged.

The most notable feature, however, is the calmness of its waters. Thanks to its location in a cove protected by rock formations, the waves are minimal or non-existent, creating a natural pool ideal for children and for those who prefer a tranquil swim. This natural protection has also allowed for the formation and preservation of coral reefs close to the shore, making it one of the best snorkeling spots on the beaches of Mexico.

Services and Facilities

Playa La Entrega not only gifts us natural beauty but also offers excellent service infrastructure that makes our stay even more pleasant. We like that, despite being a relatively 'wild' beach in essence, it has everything we need so we don't have to worry about a thing:

• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: Along the beach, we find several establishments serving delicious local food, especially fresh seafood. We can enjoy grilled fish, ceviches, shrimp cocktails, and other typical Oaxacan dishes, all with sea views. We always take the opportunity to try the day's specials.
• Umbrellas and Sunbeds: There are numerous stalls that rent umbrellas and sunbeds for a modest cost, allowing us to protect ourselves from the sun and relax comfortably by the sea. Often, the rental is included if we consume at one of the restaurants.
• Equipment Rental: For lovers of underwater adventure, there are shops that rent snorkeling gear (masks, fins), kayaks, and sometimes paddle surfboards. This gives us the freedom to explore the reef at our own pace.
• Lifeguards: The beach has lifeguard personnel, providing an additional layer of safety, especially important when traveling with children or if we are not experienced swimmers.
• Showers and Bathrooms/WC: Basic shower and bathroom facilities are available, an essential service we always appreciate to rinse off the salt and change after a day at the beach.
• Parking: As mentioned, there is a parking area near the beach entrance, making access easy if we arrive by car.
