How to Get to Playa Flamingo

Getting to Playa Flamingo is surprisingly simple, given its privileged location within Playa Blanca, one of the main tourist centers in the south of Lanzarote. If we are coming from Arrecife Airport (ACE), the most comfortable option is to rent a car, which will allow us to enjoy the freedom to explore the island at our own pace. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes via the LZ-2, a road in excellent condition that offers fascinating volcanic landscapes. Once in Playa Blanca, the beach is well signposted and is located to the west of the center, easily accessible from most hotels and apartments in the area.

For those who prefer not to drive, there are several alternatives. Public transport in Lanzarote is efficient; there are bus lines connecting Playa Blanca with Arrecife and other points of interest. Within Playa Blanca, the beach is accessible on foot from numerous accommodations, as it is integrated into the promenade that runs along the coast. We can also opt for a taxi, which will drop us off directly at the beach entrance or nearby. If we come by car, there's no problem, as around Playa Flamingo we find parking areas, some free and others paid, although in high season it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot; we recommend arriving early to secure a good place. Accessibility is one of its great advantages, allowing us to arrive without complications and start enjoying from the first moment.

The Sand and Water

The first thing that captivates us when setting foot on Playa Flamingo is the quality of its sand. It's a soft golden color, incredibly fine and soft underfoot, inviting us to walk barefoot and stretch out on it to sunbathe. Being an artificial beach, the sand has been carefully selected and maintained, guaranteeing a superior comfort experience. It's perfect for children to build sandcastles without difficulty, and for adults to relax without the nuisance of pebbles or rocks.

But if the sand is a delight, the water is, without a doubt, the crown jewel of this beach. The waters of Playa Flamingo are of astonishing clarity, with shades ranging from light turquoise to a deeper blue. Thanks to the two breakwaters that protect it, the sea here is exceptionally calm, almost like a large natural pool. The water temperature, typically Canarian, is pleasant for most of the year, inviting long dips and snorkeling to observe the marine life hiding among the rocks of the breakwaters. It's a true pleasure to immerse oneself in these waters and feel the calm they transmit.
