How to Get to Playa El Quemaito

From Barahona City

If you are already in the city of Barahona, the provincial capital, the most common and convenient option is to take a private vehicle or a taxi. The journey is short, approximately 10 to 15 minutes, and runs along a well-signposted coastal road. The view from the road is spectacular, with the sea on one side and the lush vegetation of the mountain slopes on the other. You can also opt for a 'motoconcho' (motorcycle taxi), a more economical and adventurous option for short distances, very popular among locals.

From Other Parts of the Dominican Republic

For those coming from Santo Domingo or other regions of the country, the trip to Barahona takes approximately 3 to 4 hours by car. The main route is the 6 de Noviembre Highway, which connects with the Sánchez Highway (DR-2) and then with the Barahona-Paraíso road. We recommend renting a car to have the freedom to explore the region at your own pace. The roads, in general, are in good condition. Once in Barahona, follow the signs south along the coastal road, and you will see the signage for Playa El Quemaito on the right-hand side. Access is directly from the road, with designated parking areas.
