How to Get to Playa Delfines

The accessibility to Playa Delfines is one of its great advantages, allowing us to arrive without complications to start enjoying its charms. This wonderful Quintana Roo beach is conveniently located at kilometer 18 of the iconic Cancún Hotel Zone, in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Public Transport: The Most Popular Option

For us, the bus is the most economical and, often, the most authentic way to get there. Routes R1 or R2 run the entire length of the Hotel Zone, and both will drop us off right at the main entrance to the beach. They are frequent, safe services and allow us to observe local life as we head to our destination. Just look for buses that say 'Zona Hotelera' and, for extra safety, ask the driver if they pass by 'El Mirador' or 'Playa Delfines'. It's an experience we recommend to anyone who wants to immerse themselves a little more in the day-to-day life of Cancún.

Taxi or Private Transport Services

If we prefer comfort and speed, a taxi or a private transport service are excellent options. We can take a taxi from any point in Cancún or use apps like Uber or DiDi. However, it's important to consider that regulations for these apps may vary in Cancún, so it's always advisable to check their availability and conditions before requesting the service. Although more expensive, it ensures a direct and worry-free journey to the sand of Playa Delfines.

Rental Car and Parking

For those who value flexibility and freedom of movement, renting a car is a great alternative. The good news is that Playa Delfines has a large free parking lot, a true luxury in the Hotel Zone, where parking can be scarce or paid. The road leading there is well signposted and easy to navigate, allowing us to arrive without setbacks and enjoy the beach at our own pace. The possibility of having our own vehicle also opens the door to exploring other nearby Quintana Roo beaches or taking excursions around the region.

On Foot or by Bicycle

If our accommodation is in the vicinity of Playa Delfines, we can consider the option of walking or cycling there. This alternative allows us to enjoy the coastal landscape, feel the sea breeze, and get some exercise before relaxing on the sand. However, it's important to remember that the Hotel Zone is extensive, so this option is more viable for those staying really close to kilometer 18.

The Sand and the Water

When talking about Playa Delfines, it's impossible not to start by describing its sand and water, the elements that, to a large extent, define its beauty and character. For us, the sand of this Quintana Roo beach is, simply put, a dream come true. It is fine, of an immaculate white that contrasts spectacularly with the turquoise of the sea, and the most surprising thing is that it stays cool even under the most intense Caribbean sun. Walking barefoot on it is a delight, a soft and velvety sensation that invites long walks along the shore. Its texture is perfect for children (and not-so-children) who enjoy building sandcastles or simply feeling it between their fingers while we relax under a palapa.

The water, on the other hand, is the classic crystal-clear turquoise that floods Cancún postcards, an irresistible invitation to immerse ourselves.
