How to Get to Playa del Pozo

Access by Car

The most common way to get there is via a dirt track that starts near Playa Blanca, the main tourist town in the south of the island. To access this area, it is necessary to pay a small entry fee to the Los Ajaches Natural Monument, which contributes to the maintenance and conservation of this valuable protected space. Once past the checkpoint, the track will guide us through an arid but breathtakingly beautiful landscape, with spectacular views of the coast and neighboring islands. It is important to drive carefully, as the road may have irregularities. At the end of the track, we will find a designated parking area for visitors. From there, Playa del Pozo is a 10-15 minute walk away, following well-marked trails that lead directly to the cove. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially in the warmer months.

Access on Foot or by Bicycle

For the more adventurous and hiking lovers, it is possible to reach Playa del Pozo on foot from Playa Blanca. There are hiking trails that run along the coast, offering unparalleled panoramic views. The distance from the center of Playa Blanca to Playa del Pozo can be approximately 4-5 kilometers, depending on the starting point, which translates into a walk of one hour to an hour and a half. However, remember that bicycles are not allowed on the sand, and the terrain can be demanding.

Access by Water Taxi

An interesting and very comfortable alternative, especially if we are staying in Playa Blanca, is to take a water taxi. Several companies offer this service from the Playa Blanca marina to the Papagayo beaches. Although they usually disembark at the main Papagayo beach, from there Playa del Pozo is a short walk along the coast.
