How to Get to Playa del Inglés

Getting to Playa del Inglés in Valle Gran Rey is part of the adventure and charm of visiting it. La Gomera itself is an island that invites exploration by road, with landscapes that change dramatically at every turn. To reach Valle Gran Rey, if we are coming from San Sebastián de La Gomera (where the ferry arrives), we will need to take the GM-1 road, which winds through Garajonay National Park, offering spectacular views and an unforgettable driving experience. The journey takes approximately one hour to an hour and a quarter, depending on traffic and the photo stops we decide to make.

Once in Valle Gran Rey, the beach is located in the La Calera area, right at the end of the ravine. It is easily accessible from the main tourist centers of the valley, such as Vueltas, La Calera or Borbalán. We recommend walking there if we are staying nearby, as it is a pleasant stroll and allows us to enjoy the local atmosphere and landscape even more. If we come by car, we will find parking areas (generally informal and free) in the vicinity of the beach or on the adjacent streets of La Calera. It is important to consider that, being an area with some influx, especially in high season, parking can be limited, so arriving early is always a good strategy. From the parking area, a short path will lead us directly to the sand, gradually revealing the immensity of the beach and its cliffs.

• From San Sebastián de La Gomera: Take the GM-1 southwest, crossing Garajonay National Park until reaching Valle Gran Rey. Once in the valley, follow the signs to La Calera or the beach.
• From other points in the valley: Playa del Inglés is accessible on foot from the main accommodation areas. A walk along the promenade or the streets of the La Calera neighborhood will take us directly to it.
