How to Get to Playa del Cabrón

Getting to Playa del Cabrón is part of the adventure, and although it is not the easiest access, the reward is well worth the effort. We are in the municipality of Agüimes, on the east coast of Gran Canaria, an area known for its historical heritage and volcanic landscapes. For those of us coming from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or the airport, the most common route is to take the GC-1 heading south. We must exit at the sign for Arinaga or Agüimes, depending on the direction. If we take exit 23 (Arinaga), we will follow the signs towards Arinaga and then south, on the GC-100, until a signposted or locally known turn-off.

The final access to the beach is via a dirt track, which, although passable for most vehicles, requires caution, especially after rain. We always recommend driving slowly and attentively. Once near the beach, you will find areas where you can park your car informally, along the track or in small clearings. Do not expect a paved or supervised parking lot; it is a natural environment and, as such, the parking is rustic and limited. From the parking point, there is a small path or descent that leads directly to the sand and rocks of the beach. This last stretch can be a bit uneven, so we advise wearing comfortable footwear suitable for walking on stony ground. It is not suitable for people with reduced mobility or for baby strollers due to its natural and rugged character in some spots.

It is important to consider that, being such a natural and undeveloped beach, there is no excessively detailed tourist signage. We always recommend using a GPS or map applications to arrive precisely. Often, professional divers and diving schools know the way well, and following their directions or joining an organized excursion can be an excellent way to ensure hassle-free access. The feeling of 'discovery' upon arriving at Playa del Cabrón is part of its charm, and the effort to get there is amply rewarded by the beauty and tranquility that awaits us.

The water temperature, influenced by Atlantic currents, is pleasant for much of the year, staying mild even in the winter months.
