How to Get to Playa de Xlendi Bay

Getting to Playa de Xlendi Bay is an exciting part of the Gozo adventure. For most international travelers, the journey begins with a flight to Malta International Airport (MLA). From there, the most common way to reach Gozo is by taking a bus or taxi to the port of Cirkewwa, at the northern tip of Malta's main island. Buses are frequent and economical, and the journey takes about an hour. Once in Cirkewwa, we take the ferry to Gozo, a trip of about 25 minutes that offers us spectacular views of Comino and its famous Blue Lagoon.

Upon arriving at the port of Mgarr in Gozo, the options for getting to Xlendi are several. We can choose:

• Public bus: There are regular routes connecting Mgarr with Victoria (Rabat), the capital of Gozo, and from there, other buses take us directly to Xlendi. It is the most economical option and allows us to enjoy the local landscape.
• Taxi: Available at the port of Mgarr and in Victoria, taxis are a faster and more comfortable option, ideal if we are traveling with a lot of luggage or in a group.
• Car rental: For those who wish to explore Gozo at their own pace, renting a car is highly recommended. There are several agencies in Mgarr and Victoria. The journey from Mgarr to Xlendi takes about 15-20 minutes and is well signposted. Parking in Xlendi can be a challenge in high season, but there are designated areas.
• Shuttle or private transfers: Some hotels offer this service, which is very convenient if we already have accommodation booked.

The Sand and Water

Underwater visibility is excellent, allowing us to easily observe colorful fish, starfish, and other marine creatures. The water temperature is pleasantly warm during the summer months, making every dip refreshing and revitalizing. We love how the sun plays with the water, creating blue and green tones that invite you to spend hours floating and exploring. For diving enthusiasts, the water clarity is a blessing, revealing an underwater world full of surprises and unique geological formations.
