How to Get to Playa de Vravrona

Getting to Playa de Vravrona is relatively straightforward, especially if we start from Athens or its surroundings. We always prefer comfort, and in this case, a private car or a taxi are the most direct and convenient options. The distance from central Athens is approximately 35-40 kilometers, which translates to a journey of about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. The route is quite picturesque, passing through rural landscapes and small coastal towns of Attica.

By Car

If we choose the car, the Attiki Odos (A6) highway is the main access route. We must take the exit towards Markopoulo/Vravrona and follow the signs that will lead us directly to the coast. The road is well signposted and the journey is quite pleasant. An important advantage is that the beach has parking areas, some free and some paid, which facilitates arrival and stay. We recommend arriving early, especially during summer weekends, to secure a good spot.

By Public Transport

For those who prefer public transport, there are also options. We can take an intercity bus (KTEL Attikis) from the Pedion Areos bus station in Athens bound for Markopoulo. Once in Markopoulo, it is necessary to take a local taxi for the final leg to Playa de Vravrona, which is about 10-15 minutes away. Although it is a bit more laborious than going by car, it is a viable and economical alternative that allows us to enjoy the scenery without worrying about driving.

The Sand and Water

Playa de Vravrona welcomes us with fine golden sand, incredibly soft to the touch. It's the kind of sand that invites us to walk barefoot along the shore, build sandcastles with the children, or simply lie down and feel its warmth under the sun. Unlike other rocky beaches in Greece, the ground here is predominantly sandy, both on the shore and the seabed, making it very comfortable and safe for everyone.

The waters of Vravrona are a chapter of their own. They are remarkably calm, almost like a natural swimming pool, and their color ranges from a light turquoise blue to an emerald green. The clarity of the water is exceptional, allowing us to see the seabed easily, even several meters deep. This characteristic, along with its initial shallowness, is precisely what makes it a paradise for families. The little ones can splash and play safely, while adults can enjoy a relaxing swim without worries. The water temperature, especially during the summer months, is pleasantly warm, ideal for cooling off from the Mediterranean heat. Truly, we find perfect conditions for swimming and water enjoyment.

Services and Facilities

One of the aspects we most value about Playa de Vravrona is the good infrastructure of services it offers, which contributes to a comfortable and hassle-free experience. Although it is not a massified beach, it has everything needed to spend a full day by the sea.

• Sunbeds and umbrellas: There are several sections of the beach where we can rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds for a reasonable price. This is ideal for protecting ourselves from the sun and relaxing in style.
• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: On the beach, or very close to it, there are several chiringuitos and tavernas where we can enjoy refreshments, coffees, ice creams, and, of course, delicious dishes of Greek cuisine. They are perfect for a light lunch or a sunset aperitif.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: For our comfort, the beach has showers to rinse off sand and salt after swimming, as well as clean and well-maintained toilet facilities.
• Lifeguard Service: During the high season, the presence of lifeguards on the beach provides us with additional peace of mind, ensuring a safe environment for all swimmers.
• Parking: As already mentioned, there are parking options, which facilitates access for those arriving by car.
