How to Get to Playa de Vasilika

Getting to Playa de Vasilika is a simple and pleasant part of our adventure in Evia. The island is conveniently connected to the Greek mainland via a bridge in Chalkida, the capital of Evia, which greatly facilitates access. If we are traveling from Athens, the capital, we can take the E75 highway north, towards Lamia, and then follow the signs to Chalkida. The drive from Athens to Chalkida usually takes about an hour, depending on traffic.

Once in Chalkida, the path to Playa de Vasilika is straightforward and well-signposted. We will head north, following the coastal road that winds through picturesque villages and Mediterranean landscapes. The beach is located about 25-30 kilometers north of Chalkida, a journey that will take us between 30 and 40 minutes by car. We will pass through towns like Psachna, and shortly after we will find the turnoffs to Vasilika. Access to the beach is easy, with paved roads leading directly to the shore. There are free parking options along the road or in designated areas near the tavernas, making it easy to leave our vehicle without worries. If we prefer public transport, there are local buses connecting Chalkida with villages near Vasilika, although the frequency may be limited, so we recommend checking the schedules in advance. However, to explore the area with total freedom and flexibility, renting a car is undoubtedly the most recommended option to fully enjoy the beaches of Evia and its surroundings.

The Sand and Water

The experience at Playa de Vasilika is largely defined by the quality of its sand and the purity of its waters, two elements that make it irresistible for any sea lover. We are faced with a beach that, while classified as sandy, presents a fascinating combination of fine sand and small rounded stones, especially on the shore and when entering the sea. It is a well-organized beach, designed to make our experience as pleasant as possible. One of the most valued services are the sunbeds and umbrellas that we find along much of the shore. We can rent them for a modest price, allowing us to relax in the shade and enjoy the sun without having to carry our own equipment. This is especially useful for families or for those seeking a day of total comfort.

Furthermore, the beach has several showers strategically distributed, ideal for rinsing off the salt after a refreshing dip in the sea. Bathrooms/WCs are also available, often associated with the tavernas and 'chiringuitos' in the area, ensuring we have access to these basic amenities. Speaking of chiringuitos, the gastronomic offering is one of the strong points of Vasilika. We find several traditional Greek tavernas, known as 'tavernas', directly on the sand or just steps away from it.
