How to Get to Playa de Valtos
Getting to Playa de Valtos is part of the adventure and, fortunately, there are several options to suit different preferences and budgets. Its location, right next to the town of Parga, makes access very easy.
From Parga Town
If we are in the heart of Parga, the most picturesque way to get there is undoubtedly on foot. A cobbled path descends from the castle, winding through olive trees and offering spectacular views of the beach and the sea. It's a walk of approximately 15-20 minutes, relatively easy on the way down but a bit more demanding on the way back (uphill), especially under the midday sun. But the views are well worth the effort!
Another very popular and comfortable option is the water taxi. Small boats depart regularly from Parga harbor and take us directly to Playa de Valtos in just 5-10 minutes. It's a quick, efficient, and very pleasant way to travel, also offering a unique perspective of the coast. For those who prefer land-based comfort, there are regular taxis that can take us directly to the beach in a few minutes.
From Other Cities and the Airport
If we are traveling from other cities in Greece or from abroad, the nearest airport is Aktion National Airport (PVK) in Preveza, about 65 kilometers from Parga. From there, we can rent a car, take a taxi, or use the KTEL Preveza bus services, which connect the airport with the Preveza bus station and, from there, with Parga. The drive from Preveza to Parga takes about an hour, offering charming coastal landscapes. The roads are in good condition and well signposted, making the journey easy.
Once in Parga, if we have opted for a car, Playa de Valtos has ample Parking areas, although they can fill up quickly in high season. We always recommend arriving early to secure a good spot and make the most of the beach day.
The Sand and Water
When we talk about Playa de Valtos, the quality of its sand and the clarity of its waters are undoubtedly two of its greatest attractions. We describe it as a `mixed` sand beach, which means we will find a combination of finer sand in some areas and small pebbles or cobbles in others, especially near the shore and in the depths. This mix gives it a unique and, at the same time, practical character, as the pebbles help keep the water incredibly clear.
The waters of Valtos are simply spectacular. Their emerald turquoise hue invites us to dive in immediately, and their clarity is such that we can easily see the seabed, even several meters deep. This clarity is one of the reasons why the beach has been repeatedly awarded the prestigious Blue Flag, a distinction that certifies excellence in water quality, environmental management, safety, and services. The entrance to the sea is gentle and gradual, making it ideal for swimmers of all ages and especially safe for children. There are no strong currents or sudden drops, which adds an extra layer of tranquility to our experience.
During the summer months, the water temperature is delightfully warm, perfect for long swims and enjoying all the water activities on offer. Even on the hottest days, the sea breeze and the coolness of the water provide a very welcome relief. The combination of this `mixed` sand and these crystal-clear waters creates an idyllic atmosphere that makes us feel like we are in a true Greek paradise.

One of the most visible and appreciated services are the Sunbeds and umbrellas that cover a large part of the beach.
