We, as beach tourism experts, have had the pleasure of visiting it on multiple occasions and each time it surprises us with its immaculate beauty and welcoming atmosphere.

Playa de Tsambika stretches like a crescent of fine golden sand, bathed by the turquoise and crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea. It is a destination that attracts all types of travelers, from families with young children seeking safety and comfort, to couples looking for a romantic spot or adventurers eager to try water sports. What really sets it apart is the imposing view of the Tsambika Monastery, perched on top of a rocky hill overlooking the beach, adding a unique spiritual and scenic touch to the experience.

How to Get to Playa de Tsambika

Getting to Playa de Tsambika is relatively easy, although it requires a small detour from the main road that runs along the east coast of Rhodes. We always recommend renting a car or a motorbike for maximum freedom, but there are also public transport and taxi options.

By Car or Motorbike

From the city of Rhodes, we will take the main road south towards Lindos. The beach is well signposted, and we will find the turnoff to Tsambika about 25-30 kilometers away. Once we turn, the road will lead us directly to a large free parking lot, which is a great advantage, especially in high season. Driving in Rhodes is a delight, and the landscapes that accompany us to the beach are spectacular. Access to the beach is easy from the parking lot, with just a few steps to the sand.

By Bus

During the tourist season, there are regular buses connecting the city of Rhodes and other major towns with the surroundings of Playa de Tsambika. However, it is important to consider that the bus stop may not be directly on the beach, but on the main road, which would involve a 15-20 minute walk to the sand. It is always advisable to check the updated schedules at the Rhodes bus station or on the website of the local transport company, KTEL Rhodes.

By Taxi

A taxi is a comfortable option, although more expensive. We can find taxis at any tourist point on the island, and the journey from the city of Rhodes or Lindos will take us directly to the beach. It is a good alternative if we are traveling in a group and want to avoid parking hassles, especially on the busiest days.

The Sand and the Water

Playa de Tsambika is famous for its sand, and with good reason. We would describe it as a carpet of golden powder, incredibly fine and soft to the touch. It is the kind of sand that invites you to walk barefoot, build sandcastles with the kids, or simply lie down and feel its warmth under the sun. Unlike other beaches of Rhodes that may have pebbles or rocks, Tsambika is pure sand, making it exceptionally comfortable and safe.

But if the sand is impressive, the water is simply sublime. The waters of the Aegean Sea at Tsambika are a bright turquoise blue, so transparent that we can see the seabed even several meters deep. One of the most attractive features for us is the shallow depth of the shore. The water remains at a low level for many meters, making it an ideal place for young children and for those who are not expert swimmers. It is like a giant natural pool, warm and calm, perfect for a relaxing dip or for the little ones to play without worries. The absence of strong currents and the natural protection of the bay contribute to this aquatic serenity.

Playa de Tsambika is a very well-organized beach, which means it offers a wide range of services and facilities to ensure a comfortable and pleasant visit. We highly value the availability of these services, as they make the difference between a good beach and an excellent beach.

• Sunbeds and umbrellas: All along the beach, we will find numerous rows of sunbeds and umbrellas that can be rented for a modest price. This is ideal for protecting ourselves from the Mediterranean sun and enjoying a day of total relaxation.
• Beach bars and restaurants: There are several beach bars and small tavernas right on the sand or very close to it. Here we can enjoy refreshing drinks, ice cream, snacks, and light meals, such as Greek salads, souvlaki, or gyros. They are perfect for a quick lunch without having to go too far from the beach.
• Showers and toilets/WC: The beach has shower facilities to wash off the sand and salt after a swim, as well as clean and accessible toilets, which is essential for the comfort of all visitors.
• Parking: As we already mentioned, there is a large free parking lot right next to the beach, which greatly facilitates arrival and departure, even on the busiest days.
• Lifeguard service: During the high season, the beach has lifeguards who watch over the safety of bathers, giving us additional peace of mind, especially if we are traveling with children.
• Equipment rental and Sports Zone: For the more active, there are equipment rental points for water sports. We can enjoy activities like jet skis, parasailing, banana boat rides, or pedalos. This adds a touch of adventure to an otherwise relaxing beach day.
