We strongly recommend using a 4x4 vehicle or, at least, a car with good ground clearance. The journey from Pirgos can take between 45 minutes and an hour, requiring patience and caution. The route is scenic, offering spectacular panoramic views of the Libyan Sea and the arid landscape, but the road is narrow in some spots and can be a bit intimidating. Every kilometer traveled brings us closer to the reward of a virgin paradise.

By Sea: The Most Relaxing Option

For those who prefer to avoid the demands of the road, the maritime option is an excellent alternative. Small boats or water taxis depart from nearby coastal villages like Kali Limenes or Tsoutsouros. We found this to be a wonderful way to appreciate the beauty of Crete's southern coast from a different perspective, enjoying the deep blue of the Aegean Sea. Boat trips are usually organized by local fishermen and it's advisable to book in advance. This option is not only more comfortable but also offers the opportunity to explore coves and caves inaccessible by land along the way.
