How to Get to Playa de Thanos

Getting to Playa de Thanos in Lemnos is a simple and pleasant experience, allowing us to appreciate the island's beautiful landscapes as we approach our destination. We always recommend renting a vehicle, whether a car or a motorbike, to enjoy maximum freedom and flexibility during our stay. The road network in Lemnos is generally good, and the signage is clear, which greatly facilitates navigation.

From Myrina, the capital

If we depart from Myrina, the picturesque capital of Lemnos, the journey to Playa de Thanos is relatively short, about 5 to 7 kilometers, which translates to approximately 10-15 minutes by car. We take the main road heading towards the south of the island. We will pass through the village of Plati and, shortly after, we will find the signs for Thanos, the small village that gives the beach its name. Once in Thanos, access to the beach is direct, with several options for parking the vehicle.

Transport Options

• Rental Car: Undoubtedly the most comfortable option. It allows us to explore not only Playa de Thanos but also other corners of the island at our own pace. There are several rental agencies at Lemnos Airport and in Myrina.
• Motorbike/Scooter: For those who prefer a more adventurous and agile experience, especially in the summer months, a motorbike is an excellent alternative. The roads are suitable for this type of vehicle.
• Local Bus: During the peak summer season, bus lines usually operate connecting Myrina with the main villages and beaches, including Thanos. However, schedules can be less frequent, so we always advise checking routes and timetables in advance if we choose this option.
• Taxi: Another convenient, though more expensive, option is to take a taxi from Myrina. It is ideal if we do not wish to drive or if we are traveling with limited time. Taxis are available at the port and in the center of Myrina.
