How to Get to Playa de Son Moll

Getting to Playa de Son Moll is relatively straightforward, making it an accessible destination for all types of travelers. We always recommend planning the route in advance, especially if visiting during high season, to ensure a hassle-free experience.

By Car

If we choose the car, which is the most common and comfortable option for many, the beach is very well signposted from the center of Cala Ratjada, the nearest and most vibrant tourist hub. From Palma de Mallorca, the journey takes approximately one hour and twenty minutes, following the Ma-15 towards Manacor and then towards Capdepera/Cala Ratjada. Once in Cala Ratjada, the signs to Son Moll are clear. There are several parking areas nearby, both paid and some free options on adjacent streets, although the latter tend to fill up quickly in summer. Our advice is to arrive early if you want to park close to the sand.

By Public Transport

For those who prefer public transport, there are bus lines connecting Cala Ratjada with other points on the island, including Manacor and Palma. Once in Cala Ratjada, Playa de Son Moll is easily accessible on foot from most hotels and apartments in the area, as it's a short distance from the center. It's a pleasant and short walk, ideal for stretching your legs and starting to feel the sea breeze before reaching the sand.

Other Means

Arriving by bicycle is also popular, as the area has some cycling routes. For the more adventurous, a walk from the port of Cala Ratjada along the promenade is an excellent way to enjoy the coastal landscape before reaching this wonderful cove.

The predominant ground type is, as expected, sand, which facilitates access to the sea and makes it a very comfortable beach for everyone. We don't find rocks at the entrance, which is a big plus for families and the elderly.

The Water

The waters of Son Moll are simply spectacular. Their transparency is astonishing, allowing us to easily see the seabed. The color varies from a bright turquoise at the shore to a deeper blue as we go further out, creating a color palette that is a delight for the eyes. The waters are generally calm, protected from strong currents by the configuration of the bay, making them very safe for swimming, even for the little ones. The water temperature is pleasant during the summer months, inviting long dips and refreshing swims.
