How to Get to Playa de Skala Eressos

Getting to Playa de Skala Eressos is part of the adventure and, although it requires a bit of a journey, the destination is well worth it. The most common way to access Lesbos is by flying into Mytilene International Airport 'Odysseas Elytis' (MJT), the island's capital. From there, we have several options to reach Skala Eressos, which is located at the southwestern tip of the island, about 90 kilometers away.

From Mytilene Airport

• Rental Car: This is, without a doubt, the most recommended option if we wish to explore the island at our own pace. The journey from Mytilene to Skala Eressos takes approximately two hours and will take us through stunning landscapes, with hills covered in olive trees and picturesque villages. The roads are in good condition, although some sections can be a bit winding. The freedom of having a car will allow us to make impromptu stops and discover hidden corners.
• Taxi: We can take a taxi directly from the airport. It's a comfortable option, but significantly more expensive than renting a car. It's advisable to negotiate the price in advance or ensure the taxi meter is working correctly.
• Public Bus (KTEL): There is a bus service connecting Mytilene with Eressos (the inland village, about 4 km from Skala Eressos). From Eressos, we can take a local taxi or, if we're feeling energetic, walk to the beach. Bus schedules can be limited, especially outside the high season, so we recommend checking them in advance. This is the most economical option, ideal for budget travelers.
