How to Get to Playa de Serena

Getting to Playa de Serena is really easy, which adds to its appeal, especially if we're traveling with children or a lot of luggage. Roquetas de Mar, and therefore this beach, is very well connected. If we come by car, the A-7 motorway is the main artery connecting us to the rest of Spain. Once in the vicinity of Roquetas de Mar, the signs towards the Roquetas Urbanization or directly to Playa Serena are clear and will guide us without a problem. There are several exits that will bring us close to the coast and the beach area.

By Car

For us, the car is the most comfortable option, as it allows us total freedom to move around the area. From Almería city, the journey takes about 20-30 minutes via the A-7 and then the A-391. We have ample parking areas around the beach, both in the urbanization itself and in adjacent streets, which greatly facilitates access. It's true that in high season it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot right on the front line, but there are always options a few minutes' walk away.

By Bus and Other Means

If we prefer public transport, Roquetas de Mar has a network of urban buses connecting the different areas of the municipality, including Playa de Serena. From the Almería bus station, there are also intercity lines that take us directly to Roquetas. For those arriving by plane, Almería Airport (ALC) is the closest, about 30-40 minutes away by car. From there, we can take a taxi, a private transfer service, or rent a car to reach our destination and fully enjoy the beach of Roquetas de Mar.

The Sand and Water

The first thing that catches our attention when stepping onto Playa de Serena is the quality of its sand. It's a fine, golden sand, incredibly pleasant underfoot, stretching for almost two kilometers. It's perfect for building sandcastles with the little ones, for long barefoot walks, or simply for laying out our towel and enjoying the sun. We don't find large rocks or pebbles to bother us, making it a very comfortable place for relaxation.

As for the water, Playa de Serena lives up to its name. Its waters are calm, of a crystalline blue that invites swimming and immersion. The slope for entering the sea is gentle, making it very safe for children and the elderly. We rarely find strong currents or significant waves, which is a relief for those seeking a relaxed, worry-free swim.
