How to Get to Playa de Serantes

Getting to Playa de Serantes is relatively easy, making it a very accessible destination for all types of visitors. We always recommend planning the trip, especially during the high season, to ensure a hassle-free experience.

By Car

The main access is via the N-634 road, which runs along the Asturian coast. If we are coming from the east (Oviedo, Gijón) or the west (Galicia), we must take the exit towards Tapia de Casariego. Once in the town, signs will guide us easily to the beach. The local road that leads directly to Serantes is comfortable and well-maintained. The advantage of going by car is the flexibility and the possibility to explore the surroundings with complete freedom.

Parking

One of the great advantages of Playa de Serantes is that it has parking areas relatively close by. Although it is not a huge parking lot, there is usually enough space, especially if we arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon. In the summer months, we might find the closest areas full, but there are always alternatives in the surroundings, although we may have to walk a bit more. We always prefer to arrive early to secure a good spot and make the most of the day.

Public Transport

Although public transport in this area of Asturias is not as frequent as in big cities, there are bus lines connecting Tapia de Casariego with other nearby towns. Once in Tapia, Playa de Serantes is a short distance away, so we could walk (about 15-20 minutes from the town center) or take a taxi. However, for most visitors, a private car remains the most comfortable and practical option to access this beach and explore the region.

The Sand and Water

When we think of Playa de Serantes, the first thing that comes to mind is its characteristic fine, golden sand. It is a delight to walk barefoot on it, to feel its softness under our feet. The predominant type of ground is, as we have already said, sand, which facilitates access to the sea and makes bathing very pleasant. There are no annoying rocks when entering the water, which is a plus, especially for families with children or people looking for comfort. The cleanliness of the sand is notable, a reflection of the care and maintenance given to this beach, which strives to maintain its Blue Flag status.

As for the water, that of Serantes is generally calm and crystal clear, with an emerald green hue that invites you to take a dip. Although the water temperature in Asturias is never excessively warm, in summer it is refreshing and very appealing. We love diving into its waters and feeling the purity of the Atlantic, a revitalizing experience that helps us disconnect completely. The transparency of the water also sometimes allows us to observe the seabed, although it is not a beach particularly known for snorkeling.
