How to Get to Playa de Schinias

Getting to Playa de Schinias is relatively straightforward, especially if we are in Athens or its surroundings. Its location in the northeastern part of Attica makes it a very popular day trip from the Greek capital. Here we detail the best options to plan your trip:

By Car

This is, without a doubt, the most comfortable and flexible way to access the beach. From central Athens, the journey usually takes between 45 minutes and an hour, depending on traffic. The most common route is to take the Attiki Odos (A6) highway east, towards Markopoulo and then follow the signs to Marathon and, finally, Schinias. The road is well signposted and the scenery along the way, especially as we approach the coast, is pleasant. Once at the beach, you will find ample Parking areas, although during the summer months, especially on weekends, these can fill up quickly and some are paid.

By Public Transport

For those who prefer not to drive, there are bus options. Intercity buses (KTEL Attikis) operate routes from the Pedion Areos bus station in Athens to Marathon. From Marathon, you may need a local taxi or to walk a considerable distance to the beach, as buses do not always go directly to the most popular areas of Schinias. We recommend checking KTEL schedules in advance, as frequency can vary depending on the season.

By Taxi or Ride-Hailing Services

A more direct, though more expensive, option is to take a taxi or use ride-hailing services from Athens. It's a good alternative if you're traveling in a group and want the convenience of a door-to-door transfer without worrying about parking.
