How to get to Playa de San Ginés

Getting to Playa de San Ginés is relatively easy, although we recommend planning the route a little to make the most of the journey. La Azohía, although quiet, is well connected. If we come from Cartagena, the journey by car is approximately 30-40 minutes, following the RM-E22 road that runs along the coast and offers us spectacular views of the coastline. It's a journey that, in itself, is already part of the experience.

By car

It's the most comfortable option and the one we usually choose. From the city of Murcia, the trip is about an hour, taking the A-30 towards Cartagena and then turning off towards Mazarrón to finally take the coastal road towards La Azohía. Once in the village, the signage to the beach is clear. We find parking nearby, often free and with enough space, although in high season it's always advisable to arrive early to secure a good spot. The ease of parking is a plus that we highly value, especially when traveling with children or a lot of luggage.

By public transport

Although the car is the most practical, it is also possible to get there by public transport. There are bus lines connecting Cartagena with La Azohía, although the frequency may be limited, especially outside the summer season. From the bus stop in La Azohía, the beach is a short walk away, allowing you to enjoy the atmosphere of the village before diving into the sand. For us, it's an option to consider if we want to forget about the car completely and enjoy a worry-free day.

The sand and the water

One of the aspects that captivates us most about Playa de San Ginés is, without a doubt, its sand and the quality of its waters. The sand is fine and of a soft golden color, inviting you to lie down and relax under the sun. It's perfect for building sandcastles with the little ones or simply for walking barefoot feeling each grain between your toes. There are no annoying rocks or pebbles to hinder the walk, making it a very pleasant place for everyone's enjoyment.

The waters of the beach in Cartagena (La Azohía) are a true spectacle. They are incredibly calm and crystal clear, with a turquoise hue that blends with the deep blue of the Mediterranean. La Azohía, aware of its beach's appeal, has managed to equip it with everything needed so we don't miss a thing.

• Showers and Toilets/WC: Essential for washing off the salt and sand before heading home, and for maintaining hygiene during the day. They are well maintained and accessible.
• Parking: As already mentioned, the ease of parking is a big plus, especially in an area so busy in summer.
• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: They are a must. At the beachfront we find several chiringuitos where we can enjoy a cold drink, an ice cream or even a light meal. In the vicinity of La Azohía, there are also various restaurants offering local cuisine, perfect for a more elaborate meal after a day at the beach.
• Lifeguards: Safety is paramount, and the presence of lifeguards during the high season gives us extra peace of mind, especially when we go with children. Their constant vigilance is a great relief.
• Sun umbrellas and sun loungers: For those who don't want to carry their own equipment, there is the possibility of renting sun umbrellas and sun loungers, making the beach day even easier.
• Full Accessibility: The beach has access ramps, wooden walkways that reach the shore and, on occasion, amphibious chairs for people with reduced mobility, making this an inclusive beach for everyone. This is something we are proud of and demonstrates a commitment to tourism for all.
