How to Get to Playa de Sa Roqueta

Getting to Playa de Sa Roqueta is relatively straightforward, although, as in most of Formentera, the best way to get around freely is by renting a vehicle. We always recommend a motorbike or scooter, as they allow you to feel the island breeze and facilitate parking, especially during the high season. A small car can also be a good option for families or groups.

From the port of La Savina, the arrival point on the island, the journey takes approximately 10-15 minutes. We must take the main PM-820 road towards Sant Ferran and then continue towards Es Pujols. Once in the vicinity of Es Pujols, follow the signs towards the east coast. Sa Roqueta is located just north of Es Pujols, on the same coastline that leads to the famous Platja de Llevant. A road runs parallel to the coast, from which you can see and access the various coves that make up Sa Roqueta.

Transport Options

• Motorbike or Scooter: Our preferred option for exploring Formentera at your own pace, accessing hidden corners, and finding parking more easily. There are multiple rental points in La Savina and Es Pujols.
• Car: Practical for families or groups, although parking at the beaches can be limited in July and August. We recommend respecting the designated parking areas.
• Bicycle: Formentera is a flat island with an excellent network of green routes. From Es Pujols, the journey is short and very pleasant, ideal for enjoying the coastal landscape.

Parking

Parking in the Playa de Sa Roqueta area is mainly on the roadside. It is free and generally easy to find outside the high season. In the busiest months, we advise arriving early to secure a good spot, always respecting the environment and local regulations.

The Sand and Water

The main characteristic that defines Playa de Sa Roqueta and makes it such a coveted destination is, without a doubt, the quality of its sand and the astonishing transparency of its waters. We have visited countless Balearic beaches, but few offer such a perfect combination as this Formentera jewel.

The Sand

The sand of Sa Roqueta is fine and of an immaculate white, almost blinding under the Mediterranean sun. This whiteness, the result of the disintegration of shells and corals over millennia, creates a soft and pleasant texture to the touch, ideal for walking barefoot or simply lying down. The predominant ground type is sand, although we will find some rocky formations that divide the coves and add a touch of character to the landscape, enriching its photogenic profile.

The Water

If the sand is exceptional, the waters of Sa Roqueta are simply spectacular. Their transparency is legendary, allowing you to see the seabed with astonishing clarity, even at several meters depth. The color ranges from a bright turquoise in the shallower areas to an intense blue as you go further out. This purity is largely due to the Posidonia Oceanica seagrass meadows, an endemic Mediterranean marine plant that acts as a natural filter, oxygenating the water and maintaining its incredible clarity. The waters are generally very calm and shallow at the shore, making them perfect for children's bathing and a relaxing dip. The water temperature is pleasant for much of the year, being especially warm from late spring until well into autumn. We always bring snorkeling masks and a snorkel; it's an experience we highly recommend.
