How to Get to Playa de Rrushkull

Getting to Playa de Rrushkull is relatively straightforward, especially if we start from Durrës. We found that the best option is by car, which gives us the flexibility to explore the surroundings at our own pace. From the center of Durrës, the journey takes approximately 20-30 minutes heading north, following the coastal road that borders the Adriatic Sea. The signs are clear and the route is picturesque, offering partial views of the coastline.

By Car

For those who choose to drive, there is ample parking space near the beach, although during high season it can be a bit more challenging to find a spot right on the front line. Generally, the local chiringuitos and restaurants often offer their own parking areas or there are designated spaces where you can safely leave your vehicle. It is the most recommended option for greater comfort and to be able to bring everything needed for a day at the beach.

Public Transport

While there is no direct bus line that reaches the shore of Playa de Rrushkull, it is possible to take a local bus from Durrës to the vicinity and then walk a stretch or take a taxi. However, for a smoother and hassle-free experience, especially if we are traveling with luggage or children, we strongly suggest renting a car or using taxi services, which are relatively inexpensive in Albania.

The Sand and Water

The experience at Playa de Rrushkull is largely defined by its sand and water, which are, without a doubt, its greatest attractions. We were delighted with the quality of both. The sand is fine and soft, of a light golden hue, stretching for several kilometers, inviting long barefoot walks along the shore or building sandcastles with the little ones. It is sand that does not get excessively hot under the sun, making it very pleasant to the touch even during the midday hours.

The waters of the Adriatic in this area are, in a word, spectacular. They are clear and of a turquoise blue that intensifies as we go further out. What impressed us the most was their shallowness at the shore, gently extending seaward, making it an exceptionally safe Durrës beach for children. We can walk quite a few meters with the water barely covering our knees, which is perfect for the little ones to play without worries and for adults to relax in a refreshing dip without any surprises. The water temperature, especially in the summer months, is pleasantly warm, ideal for a prolonged swim.

Services and Facilities

Although Playa de Rrushkull maintains a more natural and less urbanized feel than other Albanian beaches, it does not lack the essential services that guarantee a comfortable and pleasant stay. We found good infrastructure that perfectly complements its charm.

Chiringuitos and Restaurants

During our time at the beach, we discovered several chiringuitos and small restaurants offering refreshing drinks, ice cream, and simple dishes of local food. They are perfect places to take a break from the sun and enjoy a snack. The gastronomic offering is authentic, with an emphasis on fresh local products. It is a delight to be able to have lunch with a sea view, feeling the sea breeze.

Umbrellas and Sunbeds

For those who prefer not to carry their own beach equipment, there are areas where you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds for a modest price. This allowed us to relax comfortably in the shade, enjoying the breeze and the sound of the waves without worries. The arrangement of the umbrellas is spacious, contributing to the feeling of tranquility and privacy.

Parking and Safety

As mentioned, parking is accessible and relatively easy to find. Furthermore, during the high season, we noticed the presence of lifeguards who watch over the safety of swimmers, which is always a plus, especially when traveling with children. Although it is not a beach with massive infrastructure, the presence of these basic services enhances the quality of the overall experience.
