We take the AL-12 towards the airport and, following the signs to Retamar, we will arrive without difficulty. The road is in excellent condition and the landscape accompanies us with views of the coast and the characteristic greenhouse fields of the province.

For those who prefer public transport, the M-2 bus line (Almería-Retamar-El Toyo) connects the city with this coastal area regularly. The stops are strategically located along the promenade, leaving us right at the beach. If we arrive by plane at Almería Airport (LEI), the Playa de Retamar in Almería is only about 10 minutes by car or taxi, which is a huge advantage for tourists landing in the province and wanting to settle in quickly to start enjoying the sun and sea. Furthermore, it has free parking areas, both on the surrounding streets and in designated spaces, making the visit even easier.

It is not the typical fine, golden sand, but a mix of dark sand and fine gravel, what we call mixed sand. This characteristic gives it a special charm, different from other Almería beaches. For the little ones, the absence of extremely fine sand means less sand sticking everywhere, which is a relief for many parents.

The public toilets/WCs, clean and well-maintained, are an important plus. For those arriving by car, parking is usually not a problem, as there are ample parking areas nearby, many of them free.

Safety at Playa de Retamar is guaranteed thanks to the lifeguard service, active during the high season, with surveillance posts and qualified personnel. This gives us extra peace of mind, especially when we are with children. Furthermore, the beach boasts excellent full accessibility, with adapted access ramps for people with reduced mobility and, on occasion, available amphibious chairs, making it a model of inclusion.

For leisure and dining, the offer is varied. Numerous chiringuitos and restaurants line the promenade, where we can taste local cuisine, have a refreshment, or enjoy a coffee with sea views.
