How to get to Playa de Razo

Getting to Playa de Razo is relatively easy, and the route itself is part of the experience, taking us into the green and coastal landscapes of the province of A Coruña. We always recommend a car for greater comfort and to explore the surroundings at your own pace.

From A Coruña

If you are coming from the city of A Coruña, the journey takes approximately 35-40 minutes. You should take the AG-55 highway towards Carballo. Once in Carballo, follow the signs to Razo or to the beaches. The AC-414 road will take you directly to the coast, and from there, the signage to Playa de Razo is clear.

From Santiago de Compostela

From Santiago, the trip is a bit longer, about an hour. The best option is to take the AP-9 highway towards A Coruña and, near Sigüeiro, turn off onto the AG-59 expressway and then the AG-55 towards Carballo. Once in Carballo, the directions are the same as from A Coruña.

Parking

Playa de Razo has several parking areas, specially prepared for the influx of visitors, especially in high season. Although it can fill up on the sunniest days, we have always found a spot, sometimes with a short walk to the sand. There are parking lots both at the top of the cliff and closer to the beach, near the chiringuitos and surf schools. It is a highly valued service that makes the visit easier.

The sand and the water

Playa de Razo is a feast for the senses, and its sand and water are undisputed protagonists. We are always amazed by the quality of both.

The sand

The sand at Playa de Razo is fine and of a soft golden color, very pleasant to the touch. It is perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the kids, or simply lying down to sunbathe. The expanse of the beach means that, even on the busiest days, we don't feel crowded; there is always space to find our own corner of tranquility. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the sand is remarkable, a reflection of the care dedicated to this Blue Flag beach.

The water

The Atlantic waters at Playa de Razo are crystal clear and, although they can be cool, especially outside of summer, they are incredibly refreshing and pure. The water quality is excellent, which has earned it the Blue Flag distinction year after year. The waves are a defining characteristic of this beach. It is famous for its surfing conditions, with breaks that attract surfers of all levels. However, don't worry if you are not a surfer; the beach is so extensive that there are areas where the waves are gentler, ideal for a quiet swim, especially on low tide days or in the more sheltered coves. We always recommend checking the sea conditions and following the lifeguards' instructions, but in general, it is a safe beach for swimming.

Services and facilities

Playa de Razo is well equipped with services that make the stay more comfortable and pleasant. We always appreciate the availability of these amenities in such a beautiful natural setting.

• Lifeguards: During the bathing season, the beach has a lifeguard service that ensures the safety of bathers, something essential on a beach with some waves. Their instructions are always very helpful.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: You will find points with showers to rinse off the sand and salt after swimming, as well as public Toilets/WC, which are a relief, especially if you are with children. They are usually clean and well-maintained.
• Chiringuitos: Several chiringuitos are distributed along the beach, offering everything from coffee or a soft drink to light meals, tapas, and ice cream. They are ideal places to take shelter from the sun, enjoy spectacular views, or savor a snack after a surf session. The atmosphere is usually relaxed and very beachy.
• Parking: As we already mentioned, there are ample parking areas that facilitate access to the beach.
