Here, instead of extensive dunes, we find a series of rocky platforms and prepared access points that invite us to dive into incredibly transparent sea. It's a place where life buzzes, with families enjoying themselves, friends chatting, and tourists from all over the world absorbing the Maltese energy. We love its lively atmosphere, its refreshing waters, and the convenience of having everything we need within reach. How to Get to Playa de Qawra Point

Getting to Playa de Qawra Point is quite straightforward, given its popularity and excellent location in the tourist area of San Pawl il-Baħar. Malta has a very efficient bus network connecting major cities and points of interest, and Qawra is an important hub.

By Bus

From the capital, Valletta, or from other towns like Sliema, St. Julian's, or the airport, we can take several bus lines that will drop us off directly in Qawra or nearby Bugibba, just a few minutes' walk from Qawra Point. It's an economical and eco-friendly option that allows us to enjoy the scenery along the way. The stops are well signposted and the frequency is good, especially during the high season.

By Rental Car

If we prefer the flexibility of moving at our own pace, renting a car is an excellent option. The journey from Malta International Airport (MLA) to Qawra Point usually takes about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. There are several parking areas, both free and paid, around Qawra Point, although during the high season it can be a bit more challenging to find a spot. We always recommend arriving early to secure a good place.

By Taxi or Ride-Hailing Service (VTC)

For greater comfort, especially if we're traveling with luggage or in a group, taxis and ride-hailing services (like Bolt or eCabs) are widely available in Malta. The trip is direct and will drop us right at the entrance to the area. It's a more expensive option, but very convenient.

The 'Sand' and Water

As we've already mentioned, Playa de Qawra Point is not a sandy beach. Instead, we find a predominantly rocky coast, dotted with concrete platforms and stairs that facilitate access to the sea. This gives it a distinctive and unique character that we love.

Ground Type: Rock

The ground type is mostly rock, with some sections of smooth concrete. This means we won't have to worry about sand sticking to everything, but it is advisable to wear water shoes to protect our feet from possible irregularities in the rocks and for greater comfort when entering and exiting the water. Sometimes, small artificial coves or pebble areas have been created to offer smoother access, but the general theme is rock.

Water Quality

What we can guarantee is the spectacular water quality. The waters of Playa de Qawra Point are famous for their transparency and turquoise blue hue. Being a rocky bottom, the water remains incredibly clean and clear, making it an ideal place for snorkeling and observing marine life. We'll be surprised by how easily we can see the bottom, even in deeper areas. It's a delight to swim in these waters, which are usually calm and warm during the summer months, perfect for a refreshing dip.

• Restrooms/WC: There are public restroom/WC facilities nearby, clean and well-maintained, which is essential for a prolonged stay.
• Umbrellas and Sunbeds: On the platforms and in the more accessible areas, it's possible to rent umbrellas and sunbeds to enjoy the sun in total comfort. It's a great way to secure a spot to relax and protect ourselves from the most intense sun.

From small cafes for an ice cream or a soft drink, to restaurants with sea views serving delicious Maltese and international cuisine. We'll never run out of options for lunch or dinner.
• Equipment Rental: In the area, we'll find establishments offering equipment rental for water sports, such as paddleboards, kayaks, or snorkeling gear. There are also diving centers that organize trips to explore Malta's fascinating seabeds.
