How to Get to Playa de Puerto Blanco

Getting to Playa de Puerto Blanco is relatively straightforward, although its character as a more secluded cove can make it go unnoticed by the less experienced tourist. If we are coming from the center of Calpe, the most direct route is to follow the CV-746 road heading south, towards Moraira. We will see signs for Puerto Blanco or the Calpe Yacht Club. Once in the vicinity of the port, the cove is right next to it.

By Car

We always recommend the car for greater comfort, especially if we are traveling with beach equipment or with family. There is a parking area, although limited, near the marina. During the summer months, it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot, so we advise arriving early. From the parking lot, access to the sand is via some stairs, which gives it a more intimate touch but limits full accessibility.

Public Transport

Although less direct, it is possible to get there using Calpe's public transport. There are urban bus lines connecting the center with the more southern areas of the municipality, near Puerto Blanco. However, we will likely have to walk a stretch from the nearest stop to the cove. It's always a good idea to check updated schedules and routes in advance.

On Foot or by Bicycle

For the more adventurous or those staying nearby, a pleasant walk or bike ride along the promenade and surrounding streets can be an excellent option. The panoramic views of the coast and the Peñón de Ifach during the journey are an undeniable plus.

We love the feeling of the small pebbles when walking and the way the sun makes them shine underwater. But, without a doubt, the most notable feature of Playa de Puerto Blanco is its waters. They are of astonishing transparency, with turquoise and emerald hues that invite you to dive in. The protection provided by the port means the sea is almost always calm, creating a perfect natural pool for swimming and, above all, for snorkeling. The underwater visibility is exceptional, allowing us to easily observe the marine life inhabiting its nearby rocky seabeds.

Services and Facilities

Despite being a smaller cove, Playa de Puerto Blanco pleasantly surprises us with a good provision of services that guarantee a comfortable and pleasant stay. We highly value that such a tranquil place does not forgo the essentials for the visitor's well-being.

• Showers: Essential for washing off the salt and sand after a refreshing swim.
• Bathrooms/WC: A basic service that is always appreciated for our comfort.
• Lifeguards: During the high season, the beach has lifeguard service, which gives us additional peace of mind, especially if we are with children.
• Parking: As already mentioned, there is a parking area, although limited, near the marina. It's a plus for those traveling by private vehicle.
• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: Being next to the marina, we have the advantage of having several establishments where we can enjoy a cold drink, a snack, or even a more elaborate meal. There are options for all tastes, from a more informal chiringuito to restaurants with seafood specialties.
• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: For those who prefer not to carry their own equipment, there is the possibility of renting umbrellas and sunbeds, making the beach day even easier.
• Equipment Rental: The proximity to the marina and the calmness of its waters make it an ideal place for renting equipment for gentle water sports like kayaks or paddle surf boards. It's an excellent way to explore the cove from another perspective.

Best Time to Visit

We, with our experience, can assure you that Playa de Puerto Blanco is a destination that can be enjoyed for much of the year, thanks to the enviable Mediterranean climate of the Costa Blanca. However, there are times that, in our opinion, are more conducive to getting the most out of it.

High Season (June to September)

The summer months are, logically, the most popular. Temperatures are warm, the sun shines brightly, and the sea water reaches its most pleasant temperature. This is the time when all services are fully operational (lifeguards, equipment rental, chiringuitos). The downside is that, although Playa de Puerto Blanco is quieter than others, there can be more people. If we come during these months, we advise arriving early to secure a good spot and parking.

Mid-Season (April-May and October)

For us, spring and early autumn are, without a doubt, the best times to visit this beach in Calpe. Temperatures are mild and pleasant, perfect for sunbathing and walking. The sea water is already warm enough for a refreshing swim, and most importantly: the influx of tourists is considerably lower. We can enjoy the cove with a peace and tranquility that are harder to find in summer. It is the ideal time for relaxation and photography, without the crowds.

Low Season (November to March)

During the winter months, Playa de Puerto Blanco transforms into an almost solitary haven of peace. Although swimming may be only for the bravest, the mild climate of Alicante allows for pleasant walks along the shore, enjoying the winter sun and the impressive views of the Peñón de Ifach and the Mediterranean. Many services will be closed, but the scenic beauty and serenity of the environment more than compensate.

Activities and Sports
