How to Get to Playa de Pragueira

Getting to Playa de Pragueira is relatively easy, which adds to its appeal. Located in the municipality of Sanxenxo, the main access is by road. If we are coming from Pontevedra, we can take the PO-308 towards O Grove, and we will find the signs for the beach. The route is scenic and allows us to appreciate the landscape of the Rías Baixas.

By Car

The car is, without a doubt, the most comfortable option to get to this beach. The good news is that Playa de Pragueira has a spacious and well-equipped parking lot, which makes our lives much easier, especially during high season. Although it can fill up on the busiest days, it's usually possible to find a spot without too much trouble. From the parking lot, access to the sand is direct and easy, suitable for all ages.

Public Transport

Regarding public transport, options may be more limited. Sanxenxo has bus lines connecting to nearby main towns, but to get directly to Playa de Pragueira, a taxi or a short walk from the nearest stop might be necessary. We always recommend checking updated schedules and routes if planning to use the bus, especially outside the summer season.

The Sand and Water

When stepping onto Playa de Pragueira, the first thing that captivates us is its sand. It is fine and of a beautiful golden color, soft to the touch and perfect for walking barefoot or for children to play building sandcastles. The beach's extension, about 450 meters long, provides us with enough space to spread out our towels without feeling crowded, even on the busiest days of the Galician summer.

The waters of Playa de Pragueira are simply spectacular. Their transparency allows us to see the bottom clearly, inviting us to dive in and enjoy a refreshing swim. Being protected by its natural configuration, the waves are usually very gentle, making it exceptionally safe for swimming and perfect for families with young children. Although the Galician Atlantic is known for its cool waters, the sensation upon diving in is revitalizing, and we quickly get used to its pleasant temperature. It is a true pleasure for the senses.

• Chiringuitos (Beach Bars): A good chiringuito is a must on a Galician beach. In Pragueira, we will find at least one where we can enjoy a coffee, a soft drink, an ice cream, or even a light meal with sea views. They are perfect for taking a break and recharging.
• Sun Umbrellas and Sun Loungers: For those who prefer not to carry their own equipment, there is usually a rental service for sun umbrellas and sun loungers, allowing us to enjoy the sun in total comfort.
• Accessibility: The beach is equipped with wooden walkways that facilitate access to the sand, especially for people with reduced mobility or families with baby strollers. While it cannot be considered 'full accessibility' in the strictest sense for very specific cases, it does offer significant facilities so that a wide range of visitors can enjoy it.
• Parking: As we already mentioned, the spacious parking lot is a big plus, avoiding the stress of looking for a spot for the car.
