How to Get to Playa de Panagia

Getting to Playa de Panagia is part of the adventure and, at the same time, a simple experience that brings us closer to the essence of Greek island life. The journey generally begins at the port of Pounta, on the mainland Peloponnese. From Athens, the drive to Pounta takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, depending on traffic. We always recommend taking the coastal road, which offers impressive views of the Saronic Gulf and the Aegean Sea, making the journey itself a pleasure.

The Ferry Journey

Once in Pounta, the next step is to take the ferry to Elafonisos. Ferries operate very frequently, especially during the summer months, with departures every 30 minutes or even more often in high season. The crossing is surprisingly short, just 10 minutes, which makes the wait minimal and the transition to the island quick and efficient. It is a short but charming journey, where we can already start to feel the sea breeze and glimpse the silhouette of the island, anticipating the beauty that awaits us. Taking the car on the ferry is highly recommended, as it will give us total freedom to explore Elafonisos at our own pace and easily access beaches like Playa de Panagia and other Greece beaches.

From Elafonisos Port to the Beach

Once we disembark at the small port of Elafonisos, the path to Playa de Panagia is straightforward and well-signposted. The distance from the port to the beach is approximately 5-6 kilometers, a short drive that takes us through rural landscapes and small olive groves. The road is in good condition, and the trip lasts just 10-15 minutes. As we approach, we can already see the glow of the turquoise waters indicating that we are arriving at one of the paradises of the Elafonisos (Peloponnese) beaches. There is a parking area near the beach, which facilitates access and allows us to enjoy the day without worries. It is a journey that, although short, completely immerses us in the relaxed atmosphere of the island.
