Access on Foot (Hiking)

It is important to note that this trail is not for everyone; it is a relatively long and exposed hike, especially under the summer sun, so we always recommend wearing good footwear, plenty of water, and sunscreen. The starting point is usually from the main road heading south on the island, and although the path can be a bit challenging, the views along the way are spectacular, offering breathtaking panoramas of the Aegean. Its name, which in Greek means 'thick sand' or 'dense sand', can be a bit misleading, as, while it is a substantial sand, we would describe it more as a fine and golden sand that gently stretches along the coast. It is the perfect type of sand for walking barefoot, building sandcastles, or simply lying down and feeling its warmth under the Greek sun. Its golden hue contrasts wonderfully with the blue tones of the sea, creating a color palette that is a true gift for the eyes.

The waters of Pachia Ammos are, without exaggeration, crystal clear and of a turquoise blue that irresistibly invites you for a swim. The clarity is such that it is easy to see the seabed, even at some depth. We found that the entry into the sea is gentle and gradual, making it very pleasant for swimming and relaxing. The water temperature, especially during the summer months, is ideally warm, perfect for cooling off from the heat of the sun without feeling a thermal shock. The tranquility of its waters, protected in a bay, makes it an exceptional place to float and simply enjoy the peace and serenity that only an Astipalea beach like this can offer. It is a true paradise for swimmers and snorkeling lovers, although there may not be lush marine life, the visibility is excellent for exploring what is near the shore.
