How to Get to Playa de O Rostro

Getting to Playa de O Rostro is part of the adventure. Don't expect major highways or massive tourist signage, as part of its charm lies in its relative inaccessibility to the general public. From the town of Fisterra, we'll take the road heading north, following signs towards Nemiña or Lires. The route will take us along secondary roads, often narrow and winding, that snake through small rural villages and typically Galician countryside landscapes. It's a journey that prepares us for the immersion in the wild nature that awaits.

Once we approach the coast, signage to O Rostro can be scarce, so we recommend using GPS. We'll see turn-offs onto dirt tracks or paths that lead to the vicinity of the beach. Parking is usually informal, in designated areas near the dunes, so it's important to be respectful of the environment and leave the vehicle in places where we don't obstruct passage or damage the vegetation. From the parking area, we'll have to walk a short distance through the dunes to reach the sand, which adds a touch of exploration to our arrival. It's a journey that, although requiring a bit more effort, rewards us tenfold when we contemplate the immensity of this beach in A Coruña.

The Sand and Water

It's a virgin beach that invites us to bring everything we might need and to take all our trash back with us, leaving no trace of our presence.

• Parking: There is informal parking, usually on dirt, near the beach. It's free, but it's not guarded and its capacity is limited. We recommend caution when accessing and parking, and being respectful of the natural environment.
• Lifeguards: During the summer months (July and August), there may be a lifeguard service, but it's not a constant or guaranteed presence along the entire length of the beach. Given the dangerous nature of its waters, it's crucial to take extreme precautions and not be overconfident.
