How to Get to Playa de Navagio (Naufragio)

Getting to Playa de Navagio (Naufragio) is, in itself, part of the adventure, as it is not accessible by road directly to the beach. There are two main ways to experience it: from the famous viewpoint or directly on its pebbles.

From the Viewpoint

The Navagio viewpoint is the spot from which you get the most spectacular views and the iconic photographs of the beach from above. It is located in the northwestern part of the island of Zante, near the village of Anafonitria. We highly recommend visiting it, as the aerial perspective is simply stunning. To get to the viewpoint:

• By car or motorbike: This is the most common way. From Zante Town, follow the signs towards Volimes or Anafonitria. There are signs guiding you to the 'Shipwreck Viewpoint' or 'Navagio Viewpoint'. The journey takes approximately 45-60 minutes from the capital, via winding but well-maintained roads. There is a small free parking area near the viewpoint. Be cautious, as the area can be crowded, especially in high season.
• By bus: There are local bus services that reach nearby villages like Volimes, but from there you would have to walk or take a taxi to the viewpoint. It is not the most comfortable option.

Once at the parking lot, there is a small observation platform with fences. However, many visitors choose to walk along a dirt path (with great caution) to get even better viewing angles. Keep in mind that the cliffs are very high and dangerous, so always maintain a safe distance and respect the signage. The views from here are out of this world, especially at sunset, when the sun paints the sky with vibrant colors over the deep blue of the Ionian Sea.

To the Beach by Sea
